Cryptocurrencies can be more sustainable by following Ethereum's lead, says researcher

Bitcoin has an emissions problem. With the recent revelation that the production of cryptocurrency emits as much annual carbon dioxide as a small country, bans on cryptomining have popped up around the world. But Bitcoin's biggest competitor, Ethereum, has reduced its electrical energy requirement by at least 99.84% by changing its method of production.
